‘Borrowed time’

Living on borrowed time,
Refusing to listen to the rhyme,
Thought that life was great,
Confused between love and hate,

On the run as each day passes,
Missing all of your school classes,
Uneducated and left to your own devices,
Hardly surprising you had to make sacrifices,

Your parents didn’t care too much,
Never any food let alone a loving touch,
You turned to crime to make ends meet,
You had all situations laid at your feet,

But you survive each day relatively unscathed,
Even though your future is negatively engraved,
Your face is etched in the minds of every PC,
Waiting for your next little criminal spree,

Petty crime leads to much bigger offences,
And soon you will have the need for more expenses,
You will be forced to up your game,
Becoming a well known name,

But your criminal activity will drag you down,
You will be rebuked as the scum of the town,
Sooner or later you will end up in jail,
Another statistical banged up male.

‘The past’

Gun in your jacket,
Knife in your shoe,
Revenge in your head,
What else is a boy to do?

Pull the trigger,
Release the round,
Waste the victim,
Watch him fall to the ground,

Fingerprints tie you to the scene,
A felony with high exposure,
You don’t seem to care,
You keep a calm composure,

Life in the fast lane,
Make it last,
Appreciate the moment,
Because soon it will become the past,

One way or another it is going to end,
In a coffin or on a fifteen year prison stretch,
So prepare to die, or to sit back and watch,
As an inmate throws the soap and tells you to FETCH.

‘Drop the weapon’

“Drop the weapon,
Give it up son,
It’s over now,
Allow,
Me to take you in,
Let the investigation begin,
They say you killed someone today,
But it was in self defence you say,
So why you gonna take your own life,
Drop the gun and kick away the knife,
Face yourself,
There’s no one else,
But me, you and your creator,
You can’t hang on for an arbitrator,
Come on drop your gun man take your chances,
Forget the hateful glances,
I’m on your side,
Let the courts decide,
Come on work with me it doesn’t have to end like this,
Think of your daughter and her precious kiss,”
Bang!
The sound of death rang all about,
In a flash he had blown his own brains out,
He thought there was no other way,
He had demons to obey,
They secured his fate and played the part,
He died with nothing but hate in his otherwise empty heart.
